Short Courses – Spring 2020
All CFAR seminars will be held at University College London (UCL), Institute of Education,20 Bedford Way London WC1H 0AL
in Room 642 unless otherwise indicated
CFAR offers a series of short courses on themes in Lacanian psychoanalysis. No prior knowledge of Lacan is assumed and the seminars will all include clinical examples involving the kind of problems and questions that are common to diverse currents in contemporary psychotherap.
Lacanian psychoanalysis puts special emphasis on the question of diagnosis. This does not mean pigeonholing the patient, but elaborating a framework which will help with the listening process and attending to the particularity of each individual subject. Ignoring diagnostic issues often leads to acting out or passages to the act. This course will examine the Lacanian theory of diagnosis as it is used in clinical practice.
